Friends. Frienships
| I never know that I am such a good friend to other people until recently after I confirmed my departure date to Shanghai. I must have done something deserving to have these good people in my life. Secondary school friends. My childhood friends. More than 10 years of friendship and we are still going strong. Special mention of this “ex-best friend”. We lost touch about 2-3 years ago because she was attached to a guy who wanted her to cut off contact from most of her friends, especially me I guess (I objected most to their relationship). One day, she sent me an email and asked if I am still angry with her. I told her it wasn’t anger to start with. It was disappointment. How frail our friendship was. How easily it can be replaced by a man. Since then, we re-connect and became best of friends once again. She knew that I was going away soon. When I broke the news to her on 25th Feb that I’m leaving on 20 Mar, she kinda freaked out. “So soon?!” was the response I got from her. “Can you defer?” was her second response. After which she called up our friends immediately and put together a farewell cum birthday BBQ party. Colleagues cum friends. I can’t iterate how grateful I am to this bunch of people. Over a span of 2.5 years, our relationship evolved from one of co-workers to friends and now to close friends. Great friendships @ work. How precious is that! They are as precious as gems can be. We had a farewell cum birthday BBQ party last night at Ian and Sarah’s apartment. Man, we had such a great time! Delicious food, tasty wines, yummy ice cream cake, and most importantly, great company. I was overwhelmed with happiness and joy that I almost forgot that I’m gonna be away from these people for an extended period of time. No more breakfasts with Sarah at the cafeteria. No more long lunches and shopping with the girls. No more lim teh sessions in the lazy afternoons. No more PJ congregations. No more… No more… I’m gonna miss these things millions. Miss these girls millions. New found good guy friend. He has been someone special to me (till now he still is) for some time. We spent many great moments together, in Singapore and overseas. His silly jokes never fail to tickle me. The way he is able to make me smile remains special and unique. Irreplaceable. Unforgetable. Even though nothing romantic developed out of it, I am grateful that he cherishes me as a good friend. He did not give up our friendship although he knew I liked him in a romantic way. 3 cheers to platonic friendship! Hence, great friendships I have. I want to say thanks. Thank you, Huixin. Thank you, Shirley. Thank you, Peiting, Thank you, Kelly. Thank you, Yanqing. Thank you, Carmen. Thank you, Stephen. Thank you, Sarah and Megan. Thank you, Ian. Thank you, Celia. Thank you, Erika. Thank you, Paul. Great Friends. Great Frienships. True Friends. True Friendships. Thank you. |
